This story has been out for while, but as it escaped our notice, it may well have been missed by others interested in labelling and branding.

Did you know that in a landmark ruling in late 2011, the confectionery firm Cadburys won and intellectual property argument against Nestle to copyright the pantone colour 2865c as being theirs for chocolate bars and drinks (but not other products apparently).  With ‘own label’ business growing quickly, this has significant implications for brand owners and companies looking to grow awareness of their brands in the face of ‘piggyback’ competition.
