Label Lock No-residue security seals ‘ideal’ for new DFT Legislation

On 1st September 2009 the new Single Direction on Cargo from the Department for Transport came into force. Freight, courier and logistics companies operating around Level 4 aviation and similar levels of transport security are now required to seal their vehicles as well as lock them.

The manufacturers of the highly innovative Label Lock security labels believe that they are ideally suited to this application – in fact this is something that they were specifically designed for.

Because the surface of each security seal changes dramatically once removed to display the words ‘OPENED’ – but leaves no residue on the vehicle or panel it sticks to – Label Lock™ is seen as having unique advantages in the cargo security sector.

As Sales Director Hugo Gell said: “A vehicle lock can be picked without the driver’s knowledge, unlike Label Lock™, which will seal doors and panels without the need to drill holes or modify the vehicle in any way”.

“This makes it ideal for compliance with the new legislation– especially for companies that lease or hire their vehicles so can’t physically modify them. It’s designed initially as a deterrent, but the label changes instantly if someone’s tried to get past it, and it can’t be replaced because every label has a unique number printed underneath the surface. What makes Label Lock so ideal is that there is no sticky mess left behind once you’ve removed it, and each label is also protected by a clear border and in-register tamper messages, so it’s virtually impossible to replicate”.

The product is the result of years of development and investment by Security Labels International, the UK’s premier custom label company, who now supply Security Labels to a rapidly growing network of end users and distributors worldwide .

Label Lock™ labels are entirely manufactured in the heart of the UK by Security Labels International. The business employs close to 20 people and has a turnover in excess of £1,000,000, which is growing rapidly following the launch of their new product and a move into the global marketplace.
