Businesses in the UK are obliged to have a satisfactory level of First Aid training based on a risk assessment of the activities undertaken.  Having done these courses for over 30 years now, they can get a little boring at times, so this time when renewing my basic first aid qualification I went on a 2 day course run in the Derbyshire Peak District by Nicola of High Peak First Aid.  Badged as a Wilderness First Aid course, it reinforces the basics plus a lot of additional material related to difficult casulaty assessment and treatments in the outdoors environment.  It was an excellent course, that I thoroughly recommend, with example scenarios from suspended injured  hang glider pilots to crashed bikers (pictured above), and major trauma to anaphylactic shock.  It certainly made what can be somewhat routine but important industrial training a lot more engaging!
